TUCSON (KOLD) - The City of Tucson and Pima County are opening up applications for low-income Section 8 Housing. 

The waiting list for housing will use a lottery system to give people an equal opportunity for placement on the list and keep them from having to stand in lines.

Two pets die in Catalina house fire

CATALINA, AZ (KOLD) – Two family pets died in a house fire Monday afternoon near the intersection of Pinto Way and Columbus Street in Catalina. 

The Golder Ranch Fire Department responded to the scene at 4:30 p.m. after being called by a resident who was returning from work.

Oracle man surrenders to SWAT after barricading inside home

A man with a medication issue surrendered to a SWAT team after he fired shots near paramedics and barricaded himself inside his home along with his wife, Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokesman Elias Johnson said.

The wife of 59-year-old James Evans called 911 and told authorities that her husband had overmedicated himself with prescription drugs.

Public forum to discuss electric rate increase

Next Wednesday there will be a forum to allow the public to comment about the electricity rate increase by the San Carlos Irrigation Project.

The public forum will be held on August 3 at 6pm.

Copper Creek Fire burns 150 acres

The Copper Creek Fire still threatens one ranch as of June 28 at 3pm.

The fire has burned about 150 acres and is at zero percent containment. The Copper Creek Fire is located on the Coronado National Forest in the Galiuro Mountains, just east of Mammoth.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation, Coronado National Forest spokeswoman Marylee Peterson said.
